The transformation of the Julian Curtiss library into a Learning Commons and Innovation Space began two years ago. This transformation began with the purchase of new book shelves, and extensive weeding of our collection, and was enhanced by the addition of iPads, Chromebooks, and other cutting edge digital tools. However the Julian Curtiss Learning Commons has now gone beyond creating a new physical space. Today the JC Learning Commons plays an important role in delivering and extending the curriculum, adding a hands-on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) approach to learning. The goal is for students to develop essential 21st century skills: critical thinking, communication, creativity and collaboration.
Grants from both the PTA and the Greenwich Alliance have allowed Julian Curtiss to add a variety of high and no-tech resources for our students to use.
